Founded in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, vigneron and alderman of Aÿ, Maison Gosset is one of the oldest wine houses in Champagne. Sixteen generations have succeeded one another within the Maison, passing down savoir-faire while respecting a family and artisanal tradition. Still today, Champagne Gosset remains an independent estate: since 1993 it has been part of the Renaud Cointreau family group, which perpetuates its style.
In the heart of Épernay, the current estate extends over a two-hectare park, classified as city heritage. A green oasis where respect for nature is reflected in concrete choices: the complete abolition of chemical products for garden maintenance and participation in the “Bee Trail” project for the protection of pollinators.
The historic cellars, dug in the 19th century beneath the property, stretch for over one and a half kilometers and host the cuvées during ageing, where the wines mature on their lees with slowness and precision.
The Gosset style is distinguished by mineral freshness, gustatory depth and a great capacity for evolution over time. The grapes, rigorously selected, come from around 140 hectares of vineyards distributed across the finest crus of the appellation. The blending, carefully calibrated year after year, ensures a stylistic consistency that makes every cuvée immediately recognizable.
The visual icon of the Maison is the celebrated “antique” bottle, inspired by an 18th-century model and adorned with the medallion label en sautoir, suspended like a pendant on the neck of the bottle. A symbol of timeless elegance, a distinctive hallmark of the Gosset signature.
Today the Maison is led by Odilon de Varine, deputy general manager and chef de cave, together with Pierre de Caffarelli, responsable oenologie.
